NONGPOH, Feb 8: The falling of the curtains on the nomination paper filing process would not end the political fervour in Nongpoh it seems as a colossal number of vehicles with supporters of different candidates from all five constituencies in Ri-Bhoi thronged the DC’s office here during the scrutiny of papers on Wednesday.
The vehicles were chock-a-block on the NH-6, which slowed the pace of traffic on the otherwise fast-paced route.
But thanks to the traffic police of Nongpoh, the vehicles were gradually moving on the busy Guwahati-Shillong road despite the traffic jam.
It is pertinent to note here that all 35 candidates from the five constituencies of Ri-Bhoi including eight from Jirang, Mawhati and Umsning, six from Nongpoh and five from Umroi, also attended the scrutiny of nomination papers by their respective returning officers at the DC’s office.
