SHILLONG, Feb 14: TMC stalwart and former chief minister Mukul Sangma on Tuesday attacked the MDA government for alleged discrepancies in the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the state.
“They sent a report back to the ministry in Delhi where they wrote that they provided water supply to each household in all villages. Is water supply available in every household? Is it the reality?” Sangma asked addressing a public meeting in Selsella, West Garo Hills.
Expressing shock that Meghalaya has been awarded for implementing JJM, he asked, “How is it possible? On one hand, our people are suffering from the lack of water and on the other hand, the ministry awards our Chief Minister. Do you understand the hypocrisy of the BJP?”
The leader of Opposition held back-to-back public meetings in Selsella and Phulbari along with party candidates Agassi Marak (Selsella), SG Esmatur Mominin (Phulbari) and other leaders of the party.
“This government has destroyed my land and made my children cry. Will you give your vote again to those who betrayed our youth? Will you give them vote for money? Will you sell the future of the children?” a teary-eyed Sangma asked the crowd at Phulbari.
“People of Garo Hills and the whole of Meghalaya note that they have betrayed thousands of youths. And if you vote for them for money, these politicians will not work for you. No one will care,” he cautioned.
Sangma inducted Hallinson A Sangma, a BJP leader, into the TMC. He joined the party along with more than 1,000 supporters during the public meeting in Selsella.
