SHILLONG, Feb 15: In a major boost to the BJP in North Shillong constituency, Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress senior leader Susuki Pariat, along with her supporters, joined the saffron fold on Wednesday, in support of party candidate, M Kharkrang.
Addressing the gathering, Pariat said she left the Congress for the BJP, keeping in mind the overall development of North Shillong constituency.
She alleged that many candidates, who are contesting the Assembly elections from North Shillong this year, were missing when the people of the constituency, who were reeling under COVID-19 pandemic, needed them.
“It is only now before elections that everyone is trying to help. I can say that he (Kharkrang) was already there to help the people when they were in need during the time when COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak,” Pariat said.
