SHILLONG, Feb 20: Latest addition to the list of promises for voters in the ensuing polls is a film city in Meghalaya, which comes from Bollywood star and BJP MP from Gorakhpur, Ravi Kishan.
According to the BJP leader, the film city will facilitate employment for local youths and harness their hidden talents in the field of music and arts. Kishan, who has worked in around 700 movies some of which were super hit, said that the Prime Minister is aware of the love for music among the youths in Meghalaya. He added that in consideration of Shillong being considered the ‘Rock Capital of India’, the idea of a film city was mooted.
Pointing out that the biggest film city in Asia is being built in Uttar Pradesh, the Lok Sabha member said this development would promote local artists even as he encouraged them to showcase their talent. “The youths of Meghalaya who have already excelled in the field of music must come forward and show their talent to the world,” he said.
According to Kishan, the UP government braved all challenges to avail a thousand acres of land in UP on which the construction of the biggest film city in Asia is under way. He said that a similar initiative would be made in Meghalaya.
As per the BJP Lok Sabha member, at least one lakh jobs will be generated when this idea of a film city materialises. There would be scope for people from different backgrounds such as cameramen, musicians, singers, makeup artists etc., he added.
