SHILLONG, Feb 22: BJP MP Locket Chatterjee on Wednesday campaigned for her party in the state capital and asserted that Meghalaya is longing for change.
Addressing a rally in Bengali language at Oakland, she said that “Modi soldiers” are relentlessly working for and serving the country and the people.
Maintaining that people in Meghalaya want development, the BJP MP said promised a double engine government in the state.
She also raised questions on the West Bengal model of TMC government.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate M Kharkrang raked up the issue of extortion by groups.
“People sit in shops and earn Rs 3,000-4,000 in a day but in the evening, a group will come and ask for donations. This is not donation but extortion and this has to be stopped,” he said.
Stating that there is a lack of security for people, Kharkrang said he wants security for every community in Shillong.
Another meeting at Riatsamthih was cancelled on Wednesday as it had coincided with Ash Wednesday, a holy day of Catholics.
