Shillong, Feb 27: National People’s Party (NPP) chief and chief minister, today claimed that there is a wave for the NPP not only in Garoi Hills but throughout the state and the party is positive about its prospects in the election.

He further said it is just natural that people will come out in large number to listen when the Prime Minister of the country visits the state, but poll results are decided by local and constituency-level issues. He opined that BJP wouldn’t win many seats in the state this election.

He further commented that it would take time for the TMC to strike roots in the state and a sharply divided opposition would work in favour of the NPP in the election.

When drawn to the attack launched by the BJP stalwarts Narendra Modiand Amit Shah against the NPP during the electioneering, Conrad said,” We have always fought election separately and there is nothing new in such attack by political party against each other during electioneering.”

Conrad hailed the encouraging turn out of voters so far during the polling and termed it a ‘healthy sign for democracy’.
