Guwahati, Feb 28: The Assam government has decided to sanction Rs 750 crore for constructing 500 community hall-cum-skill centres in tea estates under phase one of the ‘Mahaprabhu Jagannath Community Hall cum Skill Centre’ scheme for financial year 2022-23 for skilling youth.
“The skill centres will be constructed in prominent localities of the tea garden areas across the state and cover all tea gardens in a phased manner,” chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed after taking the decision in the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The project will fulfill a long-standing need of the tea garden community by providing skilling facilities in every tea garden as well as community centres for various cultural and community needs.
The Cabinet also decided to sanction Rs 104.57 crore to meet the interest subvention requirement for financial year 2022-23 under “Apon Ghar” scheme.
This move will benefit state government employees opting for housing loans at subsidized interest rates.
Altogether 36, 159 employees have availed benefits under Apon Ghar scheme so far.
The Cabinet further gave approval to the Assam Soil Conservation Service Rules, 2023 to streamline administration in the soil conservation department.
The rules will guide promotion and recruitment to various cadres (gazette) in the department. Their adoption will also motivate employees while minimising litigation in service matters.
