Tura, Mar 1: Villagers of Doldenggagre in West Garo Hills have filed a joint FIR against a well known leader of a pressure group in Tura, alleging him and three others of attempting to distribute money in the area during the silent period to voters on February 25 night.

The joint FIR was filed with the Officer in-charge of the Dalu Police station on February 26, against ADE leader and President, Dalseng Bira Ch Momin. Others who were also named in the FIR included Sengbath N Marak, Hopson R Marak (Driver) and Kilen M Marak.

According to the FIR, alert villagers on the lookout to prevent any illegal activity intercepted Dalseng Bira and the three others at Doldenggagre River bridge where they claimed upon inquiry, that they were on their way to Duripara village. The four persons were travelling in a Wagon R vehicle with registration number ML 08 G 0070.

However, as per the FIR, Dalseng Bira and Sengbath were later discovered in a field in the village, from where they tried to flee when they were challenged by villagers. Villagers reportedly gave chase and managed to apprehend the duo.
