SHILLONG, Feb 28: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) FR Kharkongor on Tuesday informed that cash, narcotics, liquor and precious metals worth Rs 74.18 crore were seized during the enforcement of model code of conduct (MCC) of Meghalaya Assembly elections.
Kharkongor informed that as on February 25, drugs worth over Rs 33.25 crore were seized.
The CEO further informed that cash worth over Rs 8.71 crore, freebies worth Rs 28.69 crore, liquor worth Rs 2.26 crore and precious metals such gold worth Rs 91 lakh were confiscated.
“The seizure made this time is more as compared to the 2018 Assembly polls. We had a total seizure of only Rs 1.15 crore in 2018,” the CEO said.
