SHILLONG Feb 28: TMC State president Charles Pyngrope on Tuesday said that the exit polls predictions are devoid of ground realities and the party is looking at something more than 20 plus seats.
“I am not debunking their exit polls prediction but at the same time I don’t see the ground reality to accept that, especially in Meghalaya from the same house the votes get divided, unlike other states where the whole house and whole village votes for the same party. The degree of difference is minimal, here it is personality-based elections not party based,” said Pyngrope.
Stating that while the exit polls say something else the ground reality tells a different story, he said, “When we asked the people on the ground it is much more than what the exit polls are saying unless we have an exit poll by someone who knows the ground reality it is very difficult to accept”.
“How can you give NPP 24 seats? Which are these seats? It is quite difficult to accept. Exit polls normally give a party-based thing but here it is a personality based,” he pointed out.
Asked what is the number the TMC is expecting to get, he said, “We are looking at a comfortable number which far exceeds what the exit polls state.”.
“We are definitely looking at 20 plus,” the TMC State president added.
The exit polls by various agencies have predicted the TMC to get anything in between 10-14 in the house of 60.
