SHILLONG, March 1: The KHADC on Wednesday remembered former MDC and Council Executive Member, HDR Lyngdoh, during the first day of the budget session of the Council.
Tabling the condolence resolution, KHADC Chief Executive Member Titosstarwell Chyne said that the Council desires to place on record its profound grief and sorrow at the demise of Lyngdoh.
The CEM said that the Council expresses its deepest sympathy to his kin including wife Bonnie Bell Rymmai, his children and all members of the bereaved family.
The KHADC CEM recalled that the former MDC was a member of the KHADC representing Nongspung – Sohiong constituency for more than three terms (1999-2004, 2004-2009 and 2009-2014), while adding that 2014 council elections, Lyngdoh contested and was reelected as MDC from the constituency till he resigned on September 23, 2015.
“As a member of the Council, he has held the post of executive member in the KHADC. He was also elected as MLA from 1988-1998 and from 2003-2018 who has for so many years served as cabinet minister and home minister besides occupying other important posts in the state of Meghalaya,” Chyne said.
In the capacity of a member of the Council and the State Assembly, he had contributed towards the welfare and interest of the Council, the district and the state as a whole, Chyne said.
“The vacuum caused by his death is greatly felt by us. May his soul rest in peace and may God grant strength and fortitude to the members of the bereaved family,” the KHADC CEM added.
The members from both the treasury and opposition benches paid their tributes.
