West Shillong is a general seat where 65% voters are non-Khasis. It’s a three-way battle this time- BJP, UDP and NPP.

Mohendro Rapsang of NPP is defending his seat. UDP’s Paul Lyngdoh who was president of influential Khasi Students Union, is the principal challenger. State BJP president Ernest Mawrie’s entry has queered the pitch this time.
