SHILLONG, March 1: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday said it did not have any discussions on post-poll alliance with any political party.
The party said the same can be expected on Thursday evening after the declaration of Assembly election results.
“We have had no discussions with anybody. We are waiting for the numbers to come and we will decide accordingly,” TMC vice president George B Lyngdoh said.
There are unconfirmed reports that TMC and United Democratic Party held discussions for a post-poll alliance minus the BJP.
On the exit poll predictions, Lyngdoh said the TMC does not believe in “political soothsayers”.
“We had an incredible political run in the past one year. People have accepted us as a political force and shown confidence in the party leadership. We trust our people and we hope they made the correct choice,” he said.
On reports that BJP and NPP held talks in Guwahati for a post-poll alliance, he said, “People have already understood that BJP and NPP cannot part ways. We saw it in 2018 and we are seeing it now. People are no more surprised.”
