Shillong, March 2: Violence marred post-poll scenario in Sohra following a wrong announcement of the poll results in Shella constituency by a news channel.

In some of the videos which went viral, a crowd is seen pelting stones on a fire tender.

East Khasi Hills SP Dr Raghvendra Kumar MG said that one of the news channels showed that NPP had won the seat but apparently it was UDP which won the seat and when supporters went to SDO Sohra office, they found out that the result is something else.

“They became violent and aggressive after which water cannon had to be used to disperse the crowd,” he said

However, the situation is under control now and as a precautionary measure, SP City has headed there along with additional forces. No one was injured and no one has been arrested.
