Shillong, March 5: In yet another incident of unruly behavior on a flight, a passenger was detained for allegedly urinating on a co-passenger on a New York- New Delhi flight.

The incident was reported on the American Airlines Flight AA292 where a student in ‘drunken’ condition urinated on a fellow passenger. The flight had taken off from New York on Friday and landed at New Delhi IGI Airport on Saturday.

The accused is a student of an American University and was in his sleep when he urinated on the passenger beside him. The fellow passenger immediately complained to the crew but was reluctant to report the matter to the higher authorities as the accused tendered an apology and claimed that he was sleeping when the incident took place.

The pilot however reported the matter to the authorities who further alerted the CISF personnel. The accused was then handed over to Delhi police, who recorded statements of the concerned people in the matter.

The airline later issued a statement claiming that the incident was “professionally” handled and that the flight landed safely without any disruptions.

“We’re grateful to our crew members who are consistently dedicated to the safety and care of our customers and handle the circumstances with the utmost professionalism,” the statement read.
