MLAs to take oath today

SHILLONG, March 5: Newly elected legislators will take the oath or affirmation during a special session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on Monday.
The Commissioner and Secretary of the Legislative Assembly will place on the table of the House the Election Commission’s notification constituting the 11th Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
The Assembly will observe silence for two minutes.
In addition, Pro-tem Speaker Timothy D Shira will announce the name of members nominated to the panel of chairmen of various assembly committees.
On Thursday, the House will sit again to elect the Speaker. The vote of confidence will also take place the same day.
