SHILLONG, March 6: The MDA 2.0 which will take the reins of power on Tuesday will prioritise delivering on job creation, easing congestion in capital town and tourism, among the unfinished business left behind by the MDA-I.
CM-designate Conrad Sangma on Monday said that creation of job opportunities for the youths, particularly in IT sector, would be among the top agenda.
He said that there are already 3,000 seats in Shillong IT Park and now they want to create around 20,000 more seats, 5,000 of which have been already sanctioned.
Stating that he wants to push even the Tourism sector, Sangma added that the government will continue to strengthen health and education sector.
Sangma is also happy with the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending his swearing-in ceremony while hoping to get the support of Centre as it has in the last 5 years.
Sangma also said that a modern skywalk from Barik Junction to Police Bazar through the PWD complex is expected to be completed within a year while adding that the decongestion of Shillong in terms of administrative infrastructure would begin even as the master plan for the new Secretariat in New Shillong Township will be completed soon.
When a reporter raised the issue of scams in the previous government, he strongly objected to the expression of scam and dismissed it as somebody’s assumption.
