SHILLONG, March 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the newly inducted ministers to perform well. According to Cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, during his brief interaction with them at Raj Bhavan he passed on the one-liner message to ministers.
Ampareen was all praise for Modi, describing her brief interaction with him as remarkable.
“He (Prime Minister) appears to be a very kind person. I was given the impression that likely he will not be fluent in English. But actually he conversed with us in English pretty nicely,” she told The Shillong Times after the swearing-in ceremony.
She revealed that the Prime Minister had asked all of them (cabinet ministers) if they were happy to be inducted in the government as ministers and even inquired as to who were the senior most and junior most members of the Cabinet.
“We are so happy that the Prime Minister actually made time to come and meet us even though we are just a small state with 60 members. We should not look at this negatively. We should be happy that he made that time for us,” the newly-inducted Cabinet Minister said.
The lone woman minister in the cabinet, Lyngdoh also disclosed that the Prime Minister expects the cabinet of Meghalaya to perform well.
“That was the message he (Modi) left behind for us,” she added.
