NONGPOH, March 8: Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem has vowed to pursue the pending issues of his constituency, Ri Bhoi district and the state during his second term in office.
The inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, the establishment of an Industrial Training Institute at Nongkhrah and a medical college, the upgradation of Umden as a C&RD block and the improvement of roads are the primary issues besides addressing the problem of unemployment.
Although a medical college in Ri Bhoi is like a dream, Syiem said Ri Bhoi being selected as one of the 112 Aspirational Districts in the country, there are high chances that the central government will consider it as most Aspirational Districts have got one.
Thanking the people of the constituency for supporting him wholeheartedly which ensured his thumping win in the polls, Syiem said it is not an easy task to fulfil the aspirations of people. He said despite being in the Opposition in the last term when he was with the Congress, he had tried his best to work for the development of the constituency.
He said now that he is with the UDP which is a part of the government, he hopes everything that he will do will benefit people at large.
“I will try to work harder. I urge my people to remember me in their prayers as I try to fulfil their dreams and aspirations” Syiem said.
He sought their support and cooperation so he can work for the overall development of the constituency, the district and the state.
