11, including MeECL staff, in police net over arson attack

SHILLONG, March 10: As many as 11 people have been arrested in connection with an arson attack which was carried out on Sunday night at the house of former headmen of Rymbai village at Rymbai lawpynsin village, East Jaintia Hills.
According to a statement here, the arson was attempted with an intention to cause loss of life and property.
However, one Deishim O. Lamurong of Rymbai Shynrang Sakhain village was caught red-handed by the public during the commission of the crime while others managed to flee the scene.
Swift action of the police has, meanwhile, led to the arrest of 11 persons, viz. Deishim O. Lamurong (26), Bakstar Dkhar (32), Cherishme Dkhar (23), Eborlang Nongtdu (35), Emerson Dkhar (25), Roilang Dkhar (36), Henry Shangpung (32), Thynda Lyngdoh (36), Heisalon Dkhar (33), Elius Wanniang (40) and Rishotlang Bareh (31).
According to police, Heisalon Dkhar, Elius Wanniang and Rishotlang Bareh are employees of MeECL and are suspected to have assisted the miscreants by intentionally cutting off power supply to Rymbai village.
