5 shops gutted in SWKH

Mawkyrwat, March 10: A total of five shops were gutted by a massive fire which broke out at Sakwang Market, Sakwang village, in South West Khasi Hills on Thursday night.
According to the headman S Kharjahrin, the incident took place at around 12:44 am when fire broke out at one shop only to engulf four other nearby shops later.
The fire was, however, doused before it could wreak further havoc with the arrival of firefighters.
Meanwhile, according to the Myntri, albeit no one was injured during the incident, the estimated loss incurred is more than Rs 10 lakh.
The shops belong to one Ridalin Lyngkhoi, Iawanhun Ramsiej, Pimulin Wartde, Drip Wartde and Bonlina Kharjahrin.
The cause of the fire incident, however, could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
