MAWKYRWAT, March 10: Mawthawpdah Dorbar Shnong has clarified that it had no role in the recent closure of the two schools in the village.
It may be mentioned that recently, a group of people from Mawthawpdah village in South West Khasi Hills, led by one Sparlindro Lyngdoh, had closed down two schools, viz. Mawthawpdah Government Lower Primary School and the Mawthawpdah Presbyterian Upper Primary School.
The lower primary school was, however, later reopened with the intervention of officials from the Education department.
On Friday, Myntri of Mawthawpdah village, Sundaystar Lyngkhoi, informed that the schools were closed down by Sparlindro and his group without the knowledge or consent of the Dorbar Shnong.
Asserting that the Dorbar Shnong had no role in the closure of the schools, Lyngkhoi said he has also apprised the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of the recent turn of events.
