Six killed in massive fire at high-rise building in Telangana

Shillong, March 17: Six persons suffocated to death when a fire broke out at a commercial complex in Secunderabad of Telangana. Women were among the victims.

The fire broke out on the 5th floor of the Swapnalok Complex at 7.30 pm on Thursday apparently due to a short circuit. While seven persons were rescued, six could not be saved and suffocated to death.

North Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Chandana Deepthi said that six persons died including four women and two men. When they were rescued they were in critical condition and declared dead on arrival at hospital”.

Union minister G Kishan Reddy expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the accident.

Reddy wrote on his Twitter, “Deeply anguished by the loss of lives of 6 people in the fire accident at Swapnalok Complex in Secunderabad. My condolences to the bereaved families & prayers for the early recovery of those injured”.
