SHILLONG, March 16: Urban Affairs Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar on Thursday said various projects under Smart City are in different stages of implementation.
He told reporters that the two major projects under Smart City include the construction of a market at Polo and Laitumkhrah.
The only project yet to start is the smart road project since they need clearance from various line departments, he said.
“The implementation of the other projects is making good progress,” Dhar said.
Replying to a query, he said the total cost of the Smart City project is about Rs 1,000 crore.
“So far we have received Rs 349 crore, including Rs 294 crore from the Centre and Rs 55 crore from the state government,” he said.
On the finalisation of the permanent landfill site for Jowai, he said he asked the new chairman of the
Jowai Municipal Board to call for fresh applications since the land which had been identified is not feasible.
“We will wait for the fresh applications to identify the permanent landfill site for Jowai town,” he added.
