SHILLONG, March 19: The state government is all set to convene its first review meeting on disaster management and plan out strategies and approaches to better deal with natural calamities.
“We will have a review meeting very soon to work out the strategies, approach, effective response, and preventive measures to efficiently cope with any kind of disaster, whether natural or manmade,” said Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Kyrmen Shylla.
Discussions will be held on the financial aspect of disaster management, he said.
The announcement of the review meeting holds significance as the state is already witnessing rainfall owing to which the Meteorological Department has sounded an alert in a few districts, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in few places in the state and light to moderate rainfall in few other areas.
