Timothy D Shira elected Deputy Speaker of Meghalaya

Shillong, March 20: NPP leader and Resulbelpara MLA, Timothy D Shira has been elected  unopposed as the Deputy Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly for the second consecutive term.

Shira had served as the Deputy Speaker even during the last term of the House.

Assembly Speaker, Thomas A Sangma announced the election of Shira since he was the only one who filed his nomination for the election to the post.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and senior TMC legislator, Dr Mukul Sangma accompanied Shira to his chair.
