SHILLONG, March 23: As the culture of content creation continues to pick up pace across India, including in Meghalaya, the state government has decided to come up with an OTT platform, Hello Meghalaya, to provide a platform to the young filmmakers and media persons where they can upload their own content. The cherry on top is that the government will pay them for local content creation.
Announcing this, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the move, albeit at nascent stage, is aimed at providing a platform to the media persons who are into making movies and videos.
Stating that currently there is no other feasible platform, apart from YouTube, where the local content creators can generate income from, Conrad said, “The government is working on the financial package and in the platform, the youths will put their content and the government will pay them based on the certain amount of views they get. The government will try to reduce the criteria of the views so that it becomes easier and people will earn money.”
