Madhya Pradesh: Woman jumps into well with four children, three survive

Shillong, March 27: A woman who jumped into a well along with her four children after a fight with her husband survived along with her elder daughter.

The incident took place in Burhanpur area of Madhya Pradesh when a Pramila Bhilala (30) forced her four children into a well before jumping herself.

After realizing she was in danger, Pramila grabbed a rope hanging into the well to climb to safety with her oldest daughter. She came out leaving behind three children including an 18 months old son.

According to Superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar, the incident took place in the village of Baldi, which is around 60 kilometres from the Burhanpur district office.

He claimed that the woman took the drastic action as a result of an altercation with her husband Ramesh.

According to Kumar, a case has been filed and the three bodies have been pulled from a well adjacent to Pramila’s home and sent for a postmortem.

According to the police, Pramila and her 7-year-old daughter are recovering.
