Almost 90 years old, Ganchak Momin smiles while carrying a huge stack of firewood in the Nokrek Biosphere
near Sakal Aduma. She has been living all alone as her children live in other parts of the Garo Hills region.
Momin has become an example to her village folk for continuing to be active despite her advanced years
and almost without hearing. Though she may be hard of hearing, she did not shy away from asking
if the photo taken was any good. While life may be hard, she has kept that smile
intact, even while fending for herself almost alone. (ST)
