Shillong, March 28: With continuous protests halting smooth working of Parliament, the budget session may end on Tuesday or Wednesday, reports have suggested.

The session is likely to end due to ongoing protests and disruptions that are not allowing even some of the important bills to be tabled.

The government has only been able to pass the Finance Bill, the Demand for Grants, and introduce the Inter-Services Organisations Bill since the budget session resumed on March 13 after a month-long break.

As per a senior member of Parliament, the Lok Sabha must meet on Tuesday in order to pass the amendment to the Finance Bill that Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister, introduced in the Upper House on Monday. The amended financial bill has been returned to the lower house by the upper house.

The budget session is scheduled to end on April 6.

“We anticipate that the session will end on Tuesday or Wednesday. There are indications that the session won’t continue beyond Ram Navami”, according to a top official.

The leaders of 16 opposition parties protested against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Parliament on Monday while continuing to call for the creation of a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to investigate the Adani case.
