Tourism minister attends
natl workshop in Delhi
SHILLONG, March 28: Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday attended a session as part of the National Workshop on ‘Tourism in Mission Mode: Convergence and Public Private Partnership’ organised by the Ministry of Tourism in New Delhi. He received special mention from Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Ministry of Tourism. Lyngdoh was accompanied by Bah Cyrille VD Diengdoh, Director of Tourism. There was also a brief interaction with MR Synrem, IAS, who is now posted as the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism.
FKJGP asks govt to make MCH
in Nongstoin operational
NONGSTOIN, March 28: The FKJGP West Khasi Hills on Tuesday met the District Medical & Health Officer (DM&HO) seeking clarification on the delay in making the Maternity and Child Hospital (MCH) in Nongstoin functional and to discuss health-related issues in the district. The building of the MCH has been completed but the government is yet to make it operational for want of manpower. The FKJGP has laid special emphasis on the importance of the hospital since the district does not have a dedicated hospital for the mothers and the children. For any special care, people have to travel to the Civil Hospital at Mawkadiang which is far from Nongstoin town. The FKJGP also discussed the problem faced by people in the villages pertaining to the shortages of medicines and staff crisis in the CHCs, PHCs and sub-centres.
Man convicted of raping minor
NONGSTOIN, March 28: A POCSO court in West Khasi Hills has convicted one Pateja O Sangma of raping a minor on December 1, 2019, in Kamriangshi Village of the district. He was sentenced to 30 years of rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 50,000 and in default of payment of fine, the convict would further undergo six months of simple imprisonment. The court further sentence him to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 506 Part I IPC. In default of payment of fine, further one month of simple imprisonment will be undergone by the convict. The matter was reported to Mawshynrut PS earlier.
Blood donation camp at Shillong CH
SHILLONG, March 28: The blood storage unit of Civil Hospital Shillong along with Ai Jingim Voluntary Blood Donor’s Association organised a blood donation camp on the hospital premises on Tuesday. Several people came forward to donate blood during the camp. Additional DHS, Dr Andreas Dkhar, and senior specialist, Dr WB Langstieh, among others were present on the occasion.
23-year-old reported missing
SHILLONG, March 28: After purportedly undergoing severe depression, one Yuvraj Kumar (23) left his home without informing the family members and has been reported missing since March 15. Anyone with Kumar’s whereabouts can contact 70854 01580. Those that can find him would be rewarded with Rs 5000 by the family. An FIR in this connection was filed with Nongthymmai Beat House.
