Locals nab labourer for ‘molesting’ girls

SHILLONG, March 29: Residents of Malki on Wednesday evening apprehended a labourer from Barpeta, Assam, for allegedly molesting three girls including two minors. The accused has been identified as Inamul Haque (25).
Sources revealed that Haque was engaged by a contractor for repair of internal roads in Malki.
A relative of one of the girls revealed that the accused had tried to molest the girls while they were passing by.
According to the relative, the girls, out of fear, ran home to inform the family members about how the accused had tried to molest them.
The family members informed the members of the local Dorbar Shnong of Malki Lum Balang about the incident.
He was later handed over to Laitumkhrah police station.
Police informed that they have already registered a case against the labourer from Assam under various sections of POCSO Act, 2012.
