National Road Safety Week observed in SWKH

MAWKYRWAT, March 29: The Office of the District Transport Officer (DTO), South West Khasi Hills, in collaboration with the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, District Medical & Health Officer (DM&HO) and Public Works Department (PWD), on Wednesday observed the 34th National Road Safety Week/Month at Mawkyrwat on the theme ‘Road Safety — Safety to Life’.
The programme was organised with an objective to sensitise drivers and pedestrians on rules and regulations pertaining to road safety.
In this programme, the drivers were reminded of their roles and responsibilities.
They were asked to follow rules and regulations strictly and refrain from using mobile phones, toxic and intoxicated drinks while driving, and to strictly adhere to and obey traffic and other rules to avoid untoward incidents.
