Shillong, March 31: Swati Maliwal, the head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), asked the Indian Embassy in the United States on Friday to provide safety to chief minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann’s daughter who reportedly got threatening calls from pro-Khalistan elements.

According to a Patiala-based lawyer, pro-Khalisan elements allegedly called up and verbally harassed Mann’s daughter Seerat Kaur Mann, who resides in the US.

Swati Maliwal  in a Tweet said, “Read reports of Punjab CM Shri @BhagwantMann’s daughter receiving death threats in the USA. It is an act of extreme cowardice. I appeal to the @IndianEmbassyUS to ensure her safety”.

Amid protests by pro-Khalistan protesters abroad against the crackdown on a radical leader Amritpal Singh and his accomplices in Punjab, Seerat Kaur allegedly received the threatening phone calls. In an effort to apprehend Singh, who has been evading capture for more than a month, Punjab police has launched a huge search and cordon operation.

In a Facebook post, advocate Harmeet Brar stated that pro-Khalistan elements were allegedly plotting to gherao and harass the chief minister’s children in the US.
