Marijuana seized, two arrested by ANTF in Ri Bhoi

Nongpoh, April 11: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) team of Ri Bhoi District in Meghalaya today seized contraband drugs from a bus travelling from Silchar to Guwahati and arrested two persons in this connection.

The ANTF team received information about two individuals transporting illegal drugs from Silchar to Guwahati in the said bus. Acting on the tip-off, the team immediately swung into action and detained the bus bearing registration number AS 24C 9855 at around 8:30 AM this morning.

Following a  thorough search of the bus and the ANTF team recovered  seven packets suspected to contain contraband drugs from two individuals. The individuals were  identified as Rohit Raj Pandey (22 years) and Bipul Kumar (19 years), both hailing from Patna, Bihar. The recovered packets were later found to contain contraband marijuana and weigh 8.6 kg.
The two individuals have been detained and a criminal case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act will be taken up against them.
