NONGSTOIN, April 11: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM), on Tuesday, met the chief manager of State Bank of India (SBI) to request the installation of two additional ATMs in Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills.
The HNYM requested the manager to set up one of the machines close to the Deputy Commissioner’s office here and the other at the heart of the marketplace for easy public access.
This request stems from the plight of public scuttling from one end of the town to another looking for an ATM.
It may be mentioned that there are no ATMs in Rambrai, Riangdo and Shallang markets. Residents travel all the way to Nongstoin to withdraw their money.
