Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed complains of sleepless nights in jail

Shillong, April 13: Jailed gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed voiced concerns about his health on Thursday at the jail in Prayagraj.

Two doctors assessed his condition after hearing about his complaint, and they also gave him blood pressure medications. He informed the medics that he was having trouble falling asleep and that he hadn’t slept for more than two hours in the jail barracks because his blood pressure had spiked. Additionally, he complained about heat in the cell.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf will were presented before the CJM district court in the murder of Umesh Pal case today. The two were named in a court order as suspects in the murder of Umesh Pal, who was a witness in the 2005 death of BSP MLA Raju Pal.

Umesh Pal, a witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was killed allegedly on orders of Atiq Ahmed. The primary suspect in this case is Atiq. Atiq is also a suspect in the murder of Raju Pal.
