SHILLONG, April 12: The state government has decided to call the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) for talks later this month to seek their views on the relocation blueprint prepared by the government.
“We want to sit for a meeting with the HPC this month but right now we are busy with the G20 meeting,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Wednesday.
“Once Deputy CM Sniawbhalang (Dhar) who is in charge of Urban Affairs joins, we will fix the date to call the HPC and explain the stand of the government and also listen to their views and suggestions,” Tynsong said.
Earlier, the government had given a deadline of April 10 to the HPC to submit its response on the proposal for relocation of the 342 families to the premises of the Shillong Municipal Board at Bivar Road.
