Tura, April 14: In a first major achievement of its kind, doctors at the Williamnagar Civil Hospital in East Garo Hills were able to successfully remove a 7 Kg ovarian tumour from a female patient.

The complicated surgery was conducted for the first time on Friday under the leadership of Dr Vince Momin (gynaecologist), Anaesthesiologists Dr Conrad Sangma and Dr Dipali Sangma assisted by Dr Mepalchi Sangma (Emoc) and Staff Nurses-Eulyn Marak, John Marak and Pringchi Marak.

The achievement is a significant one given that the hospital, in the past, has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The success is also a milestone of sorts as people from the entire district can now depend on the hospital for such operations.
