SHILLONG, April 14: NPP national vice president and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday ducked reports of a possible merger of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) with the former.
“I don’t know…ask from those people who have given the statement,” Tynsong said, feigning ignorance on the subject.
The PDF had on Thursday confirmed that talks were on with the ruling NPP for a possible merger.
If the proposed merger takes place, the NPP will see its strength go up to 28 in the 59-member House.
PDF president Gavin Miguel Mylliem told The Shillong Times that the NPP leadership had approached the party with the proposal for a merger.
