Shillong, April 17: A soldier was detained by Bathinda police on Monday in connection with a military station shooting incident in which four army men lost their lives. Police have not yet confirmed the reports, though. At noon, the Bathinda Police will hold a press conference.
On Wednesday, a firing incident inside the Bathinda Military Station in Punjab resulted in the deaths of four Indian Army jawans. Two unidentified persons who were reportedly wearing white kurta pyjamas and carrying a rifle and an axe at the time of the shooting were the accused in the FIR filed by the Punjab Police.
Bathinda SSP Gulneet Singh identified the arrested soldier as Desai Mohan, and said, “The motive behind killing was personal”
At Bathinda Military Station, four Army jawans were shot and killed while they slept close to the barracks behind the commanders’ mess. On Wednesday at around 4:35 am, shots were fired. The involvement of terror has been ruled out by the police.
Sometime after the incident, a search operation was launched. The Army confirmed four deaths in the firing in a statement.
