Wilbert Marwein is new Bishop of Nongstoin

NONGSTOIN, April 16: Fr. Wilbert Marwein of Nonbah Parish was ordained Bishop of Nongstoin Diocese at Cathedral Parish Pyndengrei on Sunday.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Shillong MP Vincent H Pala, and some of the legislators of the state attended the Episcopal Ordination which was performed and consecrated by Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh of Shillong Archdiocese.
Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, Nuncio of Pope Francis of Vatican Embassy in New Delhi, Archbishops and Bishops from the Northeastern states and others attended the congregation.
Fr. Wilbert hails from Rangblang Sohsynniang in South West Khasi Hills. He completed his theology from Oriens Theology College, Shillong, in 2003. He was ordained a priest in 2003 at Rangblang and he served in Shillong till 2006.
He was also a Procurator of the Oriens Theological College, Shillong, in 2007.
In 2010, he went to Rome for his Licentiate at Missiology Pontifical Urban University, Rome. Till 2015, he also served as a Parish Priest at Casenza Diocese, Italy.
On October 15, 2015, he returned to India and served as a parish priest at the Divine Savior Parish Nonbah, New Nongstoin. On February 4, 2023, Pope Francis from the Vatican appointed him as the Diocesan Bishop of Nongstoin.
