Centre extends ESI Scheme to EKH, Ri-Bhoi

SHILLONG, April 18: The Ministry of Labour and Employment has extended the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme to the districts of East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi from April 1.
In this regard, all factories, establishments such as shops, hotels, restaurants, road motor transport establishments, cinema including preview theatres, newspaper establishments, educational institutions (including public, private, aided or partially aided run by individuals, trustees, societies or other organization), medical institutions (including corporate, joint sector, trust, charitable and private ownership hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centers, pathological labs), employing 10 or more persons, have been asked to register their unit online at www.esic.in (only for manpower supply agency) or at ‘Shram Suvidha Portal’ of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, so that eligible employees can avail the benefits provided in the ESI Act, 1948.
