Seizure
In its ongoing drives against illicit liquor/illegal sale of IMFL/beer/wine etc, the Office of the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Excise) in January conducted raids in restaurants, stalls in the town and its outskirts, and detected 60 such cases. A total of 249.480 litres of illicitly distilled liquor and 204.170 litres of IMFL were seized while 45 people were arrested in the connection.

Ranendra Sarma has assumed the charge of Director (Technical), NEEPCO. According to a statement here, Sarma had earlier discharged his duty as the Executive Director, NEEPCO. “He has vast and rich experience in Planning, Investigations, Design and Execution of Hydro Projects. He has published several papers in various National and International journals,” the statement said.
