SHILLONG, April 22: After Chief Minister Conrad Sangma justifying the demand for making Tura the ‘winter capital’ of Meghalaya, another legislator from the Garo Hills region, Saleng Sangma, has maintained that such a move will direct development towards Garo Hills region.
The CM had responded to a letter by a group from Garo Hills called Achik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK), which pitched before the CM the idea of declaring Tura as the winter capital of the state.
The group had stressed that the move would ensure equitable distribution of development and administration.
Congress MLA Saleng Sangma told mediapersons here that there is no harm in declaring Tura the winter capital. “…few development works will also be shared there,” he added.
On similar lines, some parts of Jaintia Hills can be declared ‘summer capital’, Saleng said.
