Supercare Hospital MD receives award for distinguished career

SHILLONG, April 29: The Founder, Managing Director & Chief Gastroenterologist of Supercare Hospital, Shillong, Dr. Rangksan Singh Thangkhiew, has been conferred with ‘Distinguished Career Award’ during the Northeast Healthcare Summit 2023, which was held at Radisson Blu Hotel, Guwahati, on Friday.
The Summit, which offers an exclusive platform to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of key stakeholders in the healthcare industry of the Northeast, was attended by Assam Health Minister Keshav Mahanta and Manipur Health Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh as chief guests.
According to a statement here, Dr. Thangkhiew received the prestigious award for his dedication in service and guiding the medical fraternity in Meghalaya.
It may be mentioned that Dr. Thangkhiew completed his MBBS from Assam Medical College in 1980 and his MD (Medicine) from PGIMER, Chandigarh in 1985. He was the first super specialist in Gastroenterology in the Northeast when he finished his DM(Gastro) in 1987 from PGIMER, Chandigarh.
He was also the first in the Northeast to perform and introduce ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), which is a procedure that combines the use of endoscopy and X-rays to diagnose and treat certain problems of the biliary or pancreatic ductal systems.
