SHILLONG, April 30: The inauguration of the AIIMS Guwahati has put Meghalaya’s only super-specialty hospital — NEIGRIHMS — in a spot of bother as several staff including doctors have decided to shift base to Assam.
In an attempt to address the shortage of manpower, NEIGRIHMS has kicked off a recruitment drive to fill up the vacancies.
NEIGRIHMS Director Dr Nalin Mehta said that one round of recruitment has already been completed and the institute is now going for a rolling advertisement which will be valid for the entire year and the vacant posts will be filled up as and when suitable candidates are available.
Making it clear that the appointments would be strictly based on recruitment rules, Dr Mehta said the institute would not compromise on the quality of medical staff.
He admitted that since the recruitment process is time taking, the institute is holding assessment promotion interviews for the existing faculty.
Earlier, it was reported that NEIGRIHMS is staring at a severe manpower crisis with as many as 20 doctors reportedly planning to shift to the newly-inaugurated AIIMS Guwahati.
