SHILLONG, May 3: Test samples have confirmed the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the state but the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department has remained silent on the matter.
The test samples for ASF from the North Eastern Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (NERDDL) confirmed six positive cases of the disease in Meghalaya.
The Deputy Director of NERDDL, Jiten Gogoi, had written to the Director of AH&V department on April 19 informing the latter about the test results. The six positive cases have been reported from a government pig farm in Pynursla, East Khasi Hills, Nongkasen pig farm at West Khasi Hills and Nangiaikyrsoi SHG farm at Umsawniang, Ri-Bhoi.
