Shillong, May 4: Krunal Pandya added an unusual record to his name during the match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday.

In place of the injured and regular skipper KL Rahul, all-arounder Krunal Pandya led the LSG against the CSK in an IPL 2023 match.

On his first day as captain, Krunal became the third batter to be removed for a duck, setting a new record for himself.

Only three batters—Krunal Pandya included—have been out on zero in their first game as captain.

VVS Laxman, a Test legend for India, was the first athlete to set this unfavourable record. When he was in charge of the Deccan Chargers in the IPL 2008, he was dismissed for zero against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Prior to Krunal Pandya, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram got out for a duck in the current IPL match versus LSG.

The match between LSG and CSK was called off to due rainfall.
