NONGSTOIN, May 5: As many as 25 candidates were provided employment opportunities by 14 companies during a one-day job mela, which was organised by the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) at Nongstoin.
The job mela was launched by Nongstoiñ Block Development Officer, T. Diengngan, in the presence of Mawthadraishan BDO L. Myrthong, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Diengngan said that the Centre has set up the DDU-GKY to promote youths, especially in the rural areas.
Lamenting that most of the youths in West Khasi Hills continue to not put confidence in the central scheme and abstained from participating in such job melas, the BDO urged all the staff of DDU-GKY to work towards gaining the confidence of the youths.
